Welcome to the website of the Beynert - Jean Bruyère Choir!

Founded by Jean Bruyère in Freylange near Arlon in 1976, the choir was initially named after the nearby forest, "Le Beynert." When its conductor died in 1984, the torch was taken up by Hélène Bernardy, who... became a permanent member of the Chemnitz Opera and passed the baton to Séverine Delforge, who... was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music in London and handed over the direction to Geoffrey Degives, who... was accepted into the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam and passed the baton to François Levaque.
Under the direction of François Levaque, the choir explores the classical repertoire, from the Renaissance to the contemporary era, from Vivaldi to Ramirez, including Gershwin and Vierne. It performs in its home province of Luxembourg, but also in the Walloon Region, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, France, Italy, and more.

Sometimes the choir is accompanied by soloists, an orchestra, or even organists such as Bérenger Goffette.
And the story continues...after the last concert conducted by François Levaque in Florenville on October 19, 2024, the direction was entrusted to Mérylien Bajot and then, at the beginning of 2025, to Alain Bajot.
Our choir is a member of A Coeur Joie and is open to all.

Our Chief

Alain Bajot

He began his musical training at the Arlon Music Academy and at the Rossignolets choir school, where, in addition to being a choirboy, he was introduced to accompaniment from a very early age. There, he also discovered the great composers through the piano with Philippe Dehoux, then pianist of the choir. He then attended the Royal Conservatory of Liège (piano, chamber music, written harmony and practical harmony, piano accompaniment). He taught at the Academies of Saint-Hubert and Bouillon (piano), at the Conservatory of Namur (chamber music) and is now a professor in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He has worked with the Collegium Vocale de Gent, the Royal Opera of Liège Choir, the Flemish Opera, the Flemish Radio Choir, and other conductors such as Marcel Seminara, Philippe Herreweghe, Sigiswald Kuijken, Georges Octors, Yutaka Sado, and Roy Goodman and David Reiland. For several years, he has been the regular rehearsal pianist for the Namur Chamber Choir and the Appassionato Chamber Choir, directed by Marie-Béatrice Nickers. Regularly in demand as an accompanist for national and international workshops, he is also a member of the Tivoli Band, directed by Eric Mathot.
